Bringing Smiles to Mott: A Year of Giving Back in 2025

Throughout 2025, the Northville Township Firefighters were honored to spend time giving back at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, participating in a variety of events designed to bring smiles, laughter, and a sense of normalcy to patients and their families during what can be some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

We kicked off the new year in January by spending time with patients and their families decorating custom calendars together. It was a simple but meaningful way to start the year—filling the months ahead with color, creativity, and something positive to look forward to.

In February, our firefighters returned to help decorate Valentine’s Day cards, spreading love, encouragement, and heartfelt messages throughout the hospital. These cards served as small reminders that patients and families are surrounded by a community that cares deeply about them.

During May, we were excited to celebrate Mother’s Day by hosting plant pot decorating with patients and their families. This event offered a heartfelt way to honor mothers and caregivers, while creating keepsakes that brought joy and reminded families of growth, strength, and resilience.

As the year moved into fall, we wrapped up our visits by decorating pumpkins, bringing a festive and seasonal touch to the hospital. The pumpkins created moments of joy and laughter, helping families celebrate the season—even while spending time away from home.

Partnering with C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital has been incredibly meaningful to us. We are grateful for the opportunity to support the patients and families who spend holidays and milestones within the hospital walls, and to help bring moments of joy during times that can feel overwhelming.

Being able to give back in this way reminds us that service extends far beyond emergency response. We are extremely excited to continue growing our partnership with C.S. Mott, and we look forward to finding even more opportunities to support patients, families, and hospital staff in the years ahead.

Thank you to the families who welcomed us, to the incredible staff at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, and to our firefighters who proudly took part in spreading kindness and compassion throughout 2025. These moments—no matter how small—make a lasting difference.
